Job Summary The Learning, Knowledge Management and Documentation Consultant will in close collaboration with the M&E Officer, collect and analyze multiple types of project related data across a variety of formats and sources and present research reports and knowledge products based on this information.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
Building on existing studies, continue to gather both qualitative and quantitative data i.e. research on the barriers for digital financial inclusion and women economic empowerment for refugees and host communities in Nakivale.
Liaise with the selected external research partner to conduct women user journey analysis to determine pain points, perceptions and possible challenges facing women when using the various digital financial services available to them to receive the cash transfer for Uganda general food assistance, and submit a WFP UGCO tailored report on the same.
Building on financial inclusion user diaries conducted within Nakivale and other settlements, facilitate, carry out, and document focus group discussions with women and adolescents from 16 to 18 along with locally active FSPs to better understand women’s needs in terms of financial and digital financial products.
Prepare a business case identifying core gaps and opportunities in the private sector service offering for refugee women in Uganda based on collected M&E data desk analyses, beneficiary interviews, and focus groups discussions.
Draft an analysis report on the impact of group VSLA participation in digital financial inclusion and women economic empowerment vis a vis individual participation.
In liaison with relevant stakeholders, assess mapped out livelihood activities for women and young women in Nakivale that can be supported by access to financial and digital financial services, including training, micro credit, mentoring, skills development, technical support, and others per the assessment results.
Conduct a research on how WFP can accelerate the development of a relevant digital economy in Nakivale.
Document evidence-based findings to establish how women can be included into the digitalization of WFP Cash assistance in Nakivale in male headed households and how WFP can support the increase in women and men capabilities to use digital financial services.
In liaison with the M&E team and the project coordinator, draft and finalize research reports and present findings to all levels of management including internal and/or external cash working groups.
With support from the project coordinator and close collaboration with the M&E officer, ensure timely compilation and documentation of user-friendly knowledge products as detailed in the project program description. Knowledge products such as living repositories and tracking tools, documented evidence-based models as learnt during implementation and from other stakeholders on digital financing and inclusion, actionable tools, knowledge sharing strategy and others as stipulated in the BMGF DFI technical approach.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate for the United Nations World Food Programme WFP Learning Knowledge Management and Documentation Consultant job placement must hold a Masters or Post graduate degree in International Development, business administration, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences or Related discipline.
Five or more years of experience as a researcher, knowledge management to include documentation and dissemination.
Experience leading qualitative and quantitative research studies/data collection focused on financial inclusion, women economic empowerment, digital financial inclusions, or other related areas.
Experience conducting key informant interviews with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Experience conducting desk reviews and other types of secondary academic research.
Demonstrable research skills such as data analytics, statistics, or survey design.
Impeccable writing and organizational skills.
Proficiency in research design, research report writing, and source analysis.
A thorough knowledge of research procedures and best practices including experience working with National council of Science and technology and other research intuitional review boards.
Able to tailor and synthesize evaluation evidence and engage diverse internal and external stakeholders proactively in appropriate ways to maximize learning and use of research concepts.
Experience working in cross functional and cross organizational reporting structures.
Excellent team-working and communication skills.
Ability to conduct research i.e. collect, analyze and document qualitative and or quantitative reports independently.
Knowledge of research and experimental techniques for gathering both qualitative and quantitative data.
A history of published articles, studies, or research work.
Very strong writing and speaking skills in English.
Previous preparation and writing of evaluative reports.
