HORIZONT3000 is an Austrian NGO working in the area of development cooperation. With the mandate of our member organisations of the catholic development sector, we specialize in the monitoring and implementation of projects as well as provision of experts in low income countries
Thematically, HORIZONT3000 focuses on three sectors Civil Society and Human Rights, Rural Development and Natural Resources Management, and Education. Gender and Environmental Protection are cross-cutting issues.
HORIZONT3000 aims at targeting the most vulnerable population groups, such as smallholders, women, children and youth, human rights groups as well as indigenous population.
Through its presence in the 2 regional and 2 country offices around the world, HORIZONT3000 is closer to its local partner organizations and beneficiaries.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
Support in planning and financial monitoring of the projects in cooperation with the Finance and Administration Manager
Under the guidance of the Finance and Administration Manager, conduct monitoring field visits to strengthen the institutional capacity of project partners with special attention to financial management
In cooperation with the Finance and Administration Manager, provide technical assistance to project partners in financial planning, forecasting and analysing financial data
Carryout systematic filing in the organisation server so as to ensure proper archiving of all finance programmes documents
Support local project partners to operate in line with HORIZONT3000’s and donors’ requirements i.e. reporting deadlines, procurement procedures and practices etc
Review projects finance reports and fund requests for completeness and correctness before submitting them to the Finance and Administration Manager.
Assist in the process of contracting for project audits and related activities
Support in the process of assessing new partners for new projects under the Financing Programme
Assisting the Finance and Administration Manager in all other requirements relating to management of grants under HORIZONT3000 EA
Communicates with all the partner organisations on various issues in cooperation with the Finance and Administration Manager
Assist in monitoring projects’ budgets for partners.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
University Degree in accounting and /or business administration with at least 3 years’ experience in finance and/or audit in a comparable position preferably in the field of development co-operation.
Experience in project management is an added advantage
Knowledge of Kiswahili is an added advantage
Strong interpersonal relations skills with a good command of both verbal and written English
Self-driven personality who can work under minimal supervision and deliver results in time and in budget
Good team player
Strong analytical skills
Flexibility
Attention to detail, orderliness, and integrity
Proficient in Microsoft Office packages especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint
