Restless Development Uganda is the go-to agency and thought-leader in youth-led development and community engagement in the country. Key priorities in initial stages of this Head of Programmes & Partnerships role will include
Leading fundraising and partnership development to diversify funding sources
Oversight and support of all Programmes and the Peoplefunction
Supporting an incoming Hub Director into their new role
Assisting to respond to shifts in the political andlegal landscape
 
Job Summary  The Head of Programmes & Partnerships will play an essential role in the leadership of the Uganda Hub, working alongside the Director and deputising where necessary to help set strategic direction, build partnerships and drive performance across all Units in the hub. Working closely with the Leadership Team, you will provide support and oversight for the programmatic and partnership functions of the agency, ensuring they are implemented to a high standard.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities  
Strategic Leadership
Key member of the Hub’s Leadership team, having oversight of the programmes, people and business development functions.
Working alongside, and where necessary deputising for the Hub Director to operationalise the Hub’s strategic vision.
To support the Hub and the Director to navigate the transition of the Hub due to the national changing landscape in the funding space and also within civil society.
Alongside the Hub Director, join quarterly Board meetings
Partnerships, Business Development and Grant Management
Working closely with colleagues in the Hub to lead the funding strategy, providing oversight of the health and cultivation of the Hub’s funding, partnership and grant portfolio in line with the Hub’s strategic ambitions – ensuring that the Hub is able to fully fund its operations, innovation and growth in the country, regionally and as part of the global agency.
To support the Business Development function locally and globally to acquire strategic and resourceful funding for the Hub and the Global Agency.
Help to ensure strong systems for effective for Donor Reporting, through Uganda’s Leadership Team
Programme and Business Performance
With the Uganda Leadership Team, ensure that the Hub’s performance and delivery, ensuring key performance and quality indicators are achieved
Guide the programmes and research team with a culture of innovation, learning, evidence building and influencing – ensuring that Restless Development Uganda’s programming portfolio remains at the forefront of driving transformative change for young people across the country and beyond
Operational management of safeguarding allegations and disclosures in the hub, including coordination with supporting bodies, and sign-posting to relevant organisations.
Alongside the Hub Director, ensure effective financial management including budgeting and financial governance, ensuring strong accountability and value for money.
People
Assist with the management of Uganda’s Leadership Team, including fostering collective ownership of key organisational processes and systems
Assist with all manager-level appointments, ensuring that staffing within the organisation is appropriate, trained, and motivated for the delivery of the global Strategy.
Line manage and support the professional development of direct line reports and ensure strong staff performance management and staff development is provided to all staff.

You may occasionally be required to work on weekends and/or public holidays, for which time off in lieu will be granted.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
Commitment to Restless Development’s values and mission available on Restless Development International website.
Substantial and recent experience in a leadership role within an NGO/INGO at country level.
Proven success in the following areas programme management, fundraising/partnerships, business development.
Experience in budget management across multiple projects, monitoring financial risks, and financial forecasting against plans and targets.
Demonstrated ability to manage and interpret organisational data sets suitable for management, board, and global senior management audiences.
Proven success in cultivating relationships with external stakeholders.
Experience of oversight of multiple teams and units.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Excellent IT skills, especially Excel, Power-point, and Word.
A role model, able to gain the respect of the management and wider staff team.
 
Desirable
Experience of working with and for young people.
Knowledge of relevant national and international strategies and frameworks in the areas of youth empowerment, sexual and reproductive health, livelihoods and other poverty related global development priorities.
Understanding of national legal and governance Uganda landscape.
