About US ⇒
The Government of Uganda GoU has received a loan from the International Fund
for Agricultural Development IFAD towards financing a ten-year National Oil
Palm Project NOPP. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of
Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries MAAIF as the Lead Project Agency,
in partnership with other agencies, private sector and farmer Organisations.
Job Summary ⇒ The overall responsibility of the Credit Officer will be to
ensure that the financing for oil palm development activities are carried out
in accordance with the laid down guidelines in the implementation plan and
according to Hub smallholder oil Palm growing scheme. .
Key Duties and Responsibilities ⇒
⇗ Identify farmers’ financial needs and provide Reponses as appropriate
⇗ Timely posting and reconciliation of farmer’s financial data from time to time.
⇗ Sensitize farmers on savings and credit activities and formation Village Savings and Loans Associations VSLAs, together with the Hub Community Development and Liaison Officer.
⇗ Ensure the recovery of the loans disbursed to farmers
⇗ Identify farmers that will require financing from banks and recommend for bank financing
⇗ Conduct financial literacy trainings among Oil Palm Growers and Non-oil palm growers aimed at improving the savings and credit culture among project beneficiaries.
⇗ Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of credit progress.
⇗ The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Hon Degree in, Statistics, Economics, Economics and Statistics, Business Computing, Agribusiness Management, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Micro finance, or related field from a recognized Institution.
⇗ At least 3 years’ experience with Credit/ Rural financial services, working a financial institution in credit management.
⇗ A team player with high levels of integrity
⇗ Fluency in English and in local languages spoken with in project area
⇗ Be a Ugandan citizen with a National Identification card
⇗ Be computer literate and well versed in the use of word, excel and internet;
⇗ Be fluent in English - written and oral and demonstrate excellent report writing skills;
⇗ Be conversant with rural development strategies and gender equity;
