About Program
BRAC Uganda with support from the Mastercard Foundation and as part of
COVID-19 Recovery and Resilience Program CRRP is looking for a Consultant to
oversee the component of behavioral change so as to improve behaviors,
practices and attitude towards prevention of COVID 19 infections among
scholar’s households and communities.
Job Summary The Behavior Change short term Consultant will support BRAC
Uganda in the design and implementation of behavioral change communication
activities including developing and dissemination of BCC materials to project
direct beneficiaries, partners and stakeholder. Overall, the consultant will
provide technical support in the development of BRAC Uganda long term BCC
strategy that can be piloted and rolled out within future projects and
programmes. Additionally, he/she will be involved in the implementation of
Mental Health and Psychosocial support activities as indicated in the project
proposal.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Take lead in developing, pretesting and roll out of community behavioral
change communication materials on COVID 19 such as success stories,
newsletters, and messages through various communication channels, to ensure
broad awareness and prevention of COVID-19 especially among households of BRAC
Scholars, alumni, Community Health Promoters and their communities.
To provide effective psycho-social support to BRAC Scholars, alumni, and
Community Health Promoters for improved COVID-19 coping mechanisms within
their households and communities.
To develop active behavioral change strategies, models approaches for
households and communities of BRAC Scholars, alumni, and Community Health
Promoters for prevention of COVID-19.
Undertake formative research to establish evidence so as to inform
community behavioral change interventions and influence policy calls through
publications, and local level advocacy engagements such as local media
engagements
Guide the CRRP project to plan and implement community behavioral change in
operational areas and conduct regular support visits to offer technical
backstopping for effectiveness of district level interventions
Build the technical capacity of the CRRP project staff to carryout
effective local level community behavioral change using proven approaches;
work with partners to conduct capacity needs assessments, trainings, mentoring
and coaching for performance.
Liaise with other actors such as the District Health teams, CSO networks
for partnership and collaboration geared towards strengthening community level
community behavioral change to influence policy formation and implementation.
Identify and support documentation of best practices, and use them to
profile the impact of local level community behavioral change, promote
learning and lesson sharing within CRRP and with other actors
Provide ongoing support supervision to the districts, organize periodic
coordination meetings to review progress, and supervise data collection and
management of local level community behavioral change efforts
Work closely with Ministry of Health- COVID technical working group and
feed new communication initiatives into the project implementation plan.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The applicant must hold a university degree in Social/ development
discipline, Postgraduate training in Public Health will be an added advantage.
At least five years of field experience in Social Behavior Change
Knowledge in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support MPSS
Knowledge of project planning and management
Communication preferably in Health programming
Must have strong research, advocacy, communication skills, facilitation and
materials development for health promotion.
Should have strong collaboration and networking skills
Excellent writing and documentation skills.
