Job Summary  Under the guidance of the Project Officer – the project Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day general implementation of protection initiatives within the settlements and host communities.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
Conducts monthly conflict situation analysis; mapping of conflicts within the community and providing guidance to community structures on mitigation and mediation approaches.
In conjunction with the Project Officer, liaises with and works in cooperation with the relevant
local authorities, community leaders, relevant civil society and non-governmental l organizations, collaborating/implementing partners, and other stakeholders where appropriate in order to achieve the project objectives, and facilitate project implementation as per the objectives.
Collects and tabulates on a regular basis field data on project activities carried out, and undertakes impact assessments using participatory approaches for all beneficiaries to determine the relevance and impact of the project assistance.
Supervises and supports field community structures and Community Based Facilitators in the effective implementation of field activities.
Promotes active community participation in specific project activities through involving beneficiaries and local leaders in the planning and implementation process.
Prepare periodic work plans and reports on sector activities and achievements
Support the M&E Team and project officer to collect and tabulate field data on project activities carried on a regular basis and participate in assessments to determine project impact.
Ensure that weekly reports and monthly reports are submitted to the responsible officer within the specified time.
Perform any other duties as directed by the project supervisors and LWF Management.
Others
Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Supervisor.
Ensures strict adherence to the principles of child protection/psychosocial support at all times including respect for confidentiality and a child centered approach, and act in the best interests of the persons of concern.
Commitments to and understanding of LWF aims, values and principles including rights-based approach.
The staff must ensure that organization assets are maintained and taken care of.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The applicants for the Project Assistant – Peace building job placement should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Rights, Development Studies, Social Work, Social Sciences, or other relevant field of study
At least two years’ experience in working under peace building
Good facilitation skills
Experience in Community mobilization
Awareness and knowledge of participatory methods for community education and mobilization
Must have no history of violation of Children’s rights, Team player
Excellent communication skills verbal and written, as well as interpersonal & negotiation skills and Must possess a valid riding permit.
