Pangea Publishing Uganda works to create culturally relevant content and programs that help children learn to read and inspire them to read more often.
 
Job Summary  The Story Curator works with our publishing arm, Pangea Publishing, to produce literacy through children’s books. The Story Curator will work with both our StoryCorps Members to collect and curate traditional Ugandan stories from around the Karamoja Sub Region as well as in the development of original texts. The position is based in Wakiso but may require infrequent travel.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
Manage the collection of stories from Karamoja sub-region StoryCorps
KPI Assist individual StoryCorps to meet their personal and programmatic KPIs. All StoryCorps must meet at least an annual 2.0 rating in their Performance Evaluations.
Verify the authenticity, dictate, accurately translate, and edit stories collected and assist with translations as needed.
KPI collect and organize all submitted audio files
Draft, edit, and finalize original stories within Content Production Plan.
KPI 48 texts per year – categories defined by Pangea Publishing Production Plan, Click Here
Secondary Responsibilities 1.0
Coordinate with pre-approved illustrators to obtain a finished product
Ensure books/activities are aligned with NCDC curriculum standards
KPI all texts produced are approved by the National Curriculum Development Center


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in the following fields Literature, Education, Social Sciences or related area. Preferred
Two years of experience copywriting and/or editing Preferred
Superior oral and written communication skills in English and Nga’karamojong Required
Computer fluency and understanding Google Suite Preferred
