About US
In 1995, Epicentre created a permanent research centre in Uganda to support
MSF projects in the region. The primary role of Epicentre in Mbarara is to
conduct clinical research following Good Clinical Practice GCP requirements
on critical public health burdens in Uganda and Africa. To reach this
objective, Epicentre collaborates closely with the Mbarara University of
Science and Technology MUST.

Job Summary ⇒ The overall goal for the Laboratory Technician position is
the successful implementation of study protocols in collaboration with the
France Paris and Ugandan Principal Investigators, Mbarara-based Epicenter
research team, and other collaborators
Location MSF/Epicentre Mbarara Research Centre EMRC, Uganda

Key Duties and Responsibilities
⇗ Perform analyses and report results of laboratory procedures performed in
the laboratory, according to GCLP standards.
⇗ Participate in all laboratory activities CD4+ testing using PIMA analyser,
Rapid Diagnostic tests RDT, haematology, clinical chemistry, smear
microscopy, media preparation, others as applicable
⇗ Ensure that the procedures are performed following standard operating
procedures SOP
⇗ Participate in the implementation of quality assurance procedures
⇗ Participate in follow up of the internal andexternal quality control
⇗ Participate in the regular maintenance of laboratory equipment both
internally daily or weekly procedures or externally annual maintenance.
⇗ Participate in the biosafety aspects of the laboratory


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
⇗ The ideal candidate must hold a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques
⇗ Experience in laboratory proceduresHematology, Clinical chemistry,
microscopy,
⇗ Use of PIMA CD4+ analyser
⇗ Knowledge in using word, excel and power point
⇗ Ability to communicate
⇗ Experience/knowledge of GCLP and lab safety requirement
