About US ⇒
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration IDRC is a non-profit research
organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria,
HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have
impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently
manages over 41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was
established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University
College of Health Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the
Uganda Ministry of Health.
Job Summary ⇒ The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration IDRC seeks
to hire suitable candidates to fill SURVEY DATA OFFICER positions for a new
project called UnMASC. This is a field-based position and project activities
will take place in the following districts Jinja, Busia, Mayuge, Arua,
Koboko, Gulu, Kwania, Kyegegwa and Moyo.
Key Duties and Responsibilities ⇒
⇗ Enter data collected from the community survey.
⇗ Upload data from the tablets at the end of each field day
⇗ Reconcile paper records logs and forms with the electronic data bases
⇗ Participate in routine troubleshooting, and rectifying issues in the field
database system
⇗ Liaise with staff members to investigate and rectify data queries
⇗ Ensure accuracy and completeness of data entered
⇗ Work closely with relevant staff on data coding problems and assist
developing means for correction
⇗ Maintain confidentiality of records and research findings as appropriate.
⇗ Take part in regular team meetings.
Key Result Areas
⇗ Correct community survey data entry done
⇗ Data uploaded onto databases
⇗ Reconciliation of paper record with the electronic database
⇗ Data queries rectified
⇗ Accurate and complete data entry.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, IT or
related fields with prior experience managing large volumes of data
⇗ Prior experience working with electronic data capture tablets/smart phones
technology
⇗ Willingness to live and work up country in Uganda
⇗ Willing to work extra hours and travel long distances in rural settings.
⇗ Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
⇗ Ability to work under stringent deadlines and to work independently.
⇗ Prior work on any of the IDRC studies as a Data Officer.
