About US ⇒
Uganda Investment Authority UIA is a statutory agency that is mandated to
promote, attract, facilitate, register, monitor, and evaluate all forms of
investments and business activities in Uganda as per the Investment Code Act,
2019. It is on the basis of this mandate that UIA initiates and supports
measures that enhance investments in Uganda and advises the Government of
appropriate policies conducive for investment promotion and growth in the
country.
Job Summary ⇒ The Project Site Engineer Civil shall supervise and ensure
that all civil construction activities are implemented in line with the
approved designs and statutory requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities ⇒
⇗ Assist the Project Engineer on civil engineering and technical related
matters on the project;
⇗ Ensure that UIA’s interests are protected in the technical studies, designs
and construction phases of all project infrastructure;
⇗ In consultation with the Project Engineer, review all civil engineering
requirements from the Owner’s Engineer.
⇗ Inspect all project civil engineering activities and ensure that
construction is as per approved project requirements and statutory provisions;
⇗ In consultation with the Project Engineer, review and advice on all
proposed project civil engineering changes or variations and ensure that all
approved project architectural changes or variations are implemented;
⇗ Preparation of periodic monitoring and performance reports as per the
project reporting requirements;
⇗ Ensure that all project civil engineering documentation is maintained.
⇗ Facilitate the securing of requisite permits and approvals in relation to
statutory requirements.
⇗ Any other duties that may be assigned.
Key Outputs
⇗ Approved Project deliverables such as approved project studies and designs;
⇗ Project civil engineering and technical documentation maintained;
⇗ Project issues log, changes or variations log;
⇗ Project periodic performance and monitoring reports;

Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ The ideal candidate for the Uganda Investment Authority UIA Project
Engineer Civil job placement must hold an honors Bachelor’s degree in civil
engineering.
⇗ A master’s degree shall be an added advantage.
⇗ A postgraduate qualification and or membership to any project management
professional body shall be an added advantage.
⇗ Registration with the Engineers Registration Board is a MUST.
⇗ Must have at least 5+ years’ work experience in supervision and management
of projects post registration with Engineers Registration Board.
⇗ Proof of experience in working in complex environments and large
infrastructure and or electrical works particularly in the field of
construction supervision and management.
⇗ Proof of experience in implementation of Engineering, Procurement and
Construction EPC projects.
⇗ Experience in contract management, project management and programming-
related work.
⇗ Proof of experience in working on infrastructure projects will be an added
advantage.
⇗ Ability to work with minimal supervision with strong organizational skills;
⇗ Technical report writing and oral communication skills.
⇗ Must be results-oriented, a team player, exhibiting high levels of
enthusiasm, tact, diplomacy and integrity.
⇗ Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and professional skills in interacting
with investors, government and development partners.
⇗ Project management skills.
⇗ Attention to detail skills.
⇗ Openness to change and ability to manage complexities.
⇗ Competencies with MS Office, Project and Visio and other professional
software such as Tilos, Micro station, Archi CAD, and Adobe Acrobat Pro are a
MUST.
