The Austrian Red Cross is the national Red Cross Organization in Austria and
is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It was
established on March 14, 1880 by Doctor Adam Lichtenheld of the Vienna General
Hospital and is the biggest aid agency in the country.
Job Summary ⇒ The Austrian Red Cross AutRC is looking for an experienced
and highly motivated Regional WASH Delegate for East Africa, starting at the
latest in January 2021. The Regional WASH Delegate RWD leads the technical
planning and monitoring of all WASH related project aspects in the East Africa
Region. The RWD ensures that programmes are delivered at a high technical
standard in line with international best practices. The RWD works closely with
all partners to further develop quality and outreach of the International Red
Cross and Red Crescent RCRC Movement WASH activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
⇗ Technical responsibility of quality implementation and back-stopping of all
WASH-related AutRC projects
⇗ Assistance in participatory project design as well as technical quality
assurance of project proposals
⇗ Proactive development of WASH capacities within the RCRC movement and
develop accordingly programmes and projects based upon requests from local
RCRC Societies. Especially pro-actively advance gender-equality and
environmental sustainability in RCRC WASH programming
⇗ Coordinate specialists e.g. Emergency WASH, engineers,… and develop ToRs
for required technical support
⇗ Stay on top of latest developments in the WASH and cross-cutting sectors
and contribute to the sector-specific dialogue, including fostering RCRC WASH
advocacy and public relations
⇗ Networking and establishment of/maintaining contacts with national,
regional and international institutions and stakeholders as well as
contributing to communication strategies and knowledge dissemination
⇗ Close coordination with local project teams and AutRC WASH team in HQ
Vienna


Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ The applicant must have Higher education in environmental, civil
engineering, water management
⇗ A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in a WASH-related field
⇗ Experience in the humanitarian or development sector, with focus on WASH is
an asset
⇗ Experience in the Red Cross- and Red Crescent Movement is an asset
⇗ Experience in project development, management and monitoring including
finance management skills
⇗ Willingness to travel to remote areas
⇗ Ability to work in a multicultural team in complex and demanding
environments
⇗ Fluently spoken and written English, East African languages e.g. Swahili,
Amharic,…, French and/or German would be an asset
Compensation ⇒ minimum monthly all-in salary € 3,455 gross and willingness
for overpayment depending on qualifications and experience
