Launched in 2017, the Innovation For Change I4C Africa Hub – based in Nairobi, Kenya – has been working to strengthen the capacity of civil society through promoting home-grown African solutions, and as a result of being part of a global network, has offered network members access to the latest thinking, resources and collaborations.
It has become a vital new physical and online space for regional ideas and social innovations, powered by its dynamic, growing community of civic space advocates, including CSOs, technologists, social entrepreneurs/start-ups, and cross-sectoral partners.
Innovation for Change I4C Africa Hub’s main goal is to protect, respect, strengthen, expand and recover civil society space.
Job Summary The Senior Advisor, Financial Management & Organisational Development is a widely experienced person who has worked in senior leadership positions in international development organisations headquartered in Uganda. They have a robust understanding of the legal and statutory requirements for non-profit organisations operating within and outside of Uganda and have worked with non-profit organisations in various stages of their organisational life cycle. This person is responsible for working with CIVICUS and Hub Afrique Leadership to support the implementation of a robust institutional strengthening plan aimed at ensuring Hub Afrique’s policies and procedures are legally compliant and fit for purpose and helping the organisation to build a track record of successful organisational and financial management that will facilitate future funding and partnerships and accelerate growth.
Key Deliverables
Development of action plan to respond to RSM review of financial management and organisational development policies, processes and systems
Oversight of action plan, including capacity development support to staff to ensure sustained organisational growth and compliance
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Minimum of ten 10 years professional experience in operations and financial management
Extensive knowledge of finance and operations policies, processes and procedures
Experience in defining, implementing and reengineering finance and operations policies, processes and procedures
Extensive knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment for nonprofit organisations in Uganda, and practical experience in setting up NGOs in Uganda and other African countries
Demonstrated senior level knowledge and experience in implementing international accounting standards within the nonprofit sector.
Possession of a recognised accounting qualification is a requirement.
