Child’s i Foundation is a charity with a small footprint, making a big impact for children and families in Uganda. Child’s i Foundation helps reunite children with their own families where possible and finds loving, Ugandan adoptive or foster families where the child’s own family cannot be found or is unsafe. We help re purpose orphanages into community hub centres that provide services that prevent family separation in the first place.
 
Job Summary The role entails working with our Country Director and an experienced UK fundraising team to research fundraising opportunities, build a pipeline and write grant applications to charitable trusts and statutory bodies. It also includes managing information and recording the profile and fundraising activity of donors onto our database.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Support the Country Office with the development, implementation and management of the Uganda fundraising strategy to achieve fund raising targets a quarter of the annual budget
Identify strategic organization funding needs and develop strategies for meeting them
Working with the UK fundraising team and the Country
Director to lead the development of proposals for projects and programmes in line with Child’s i Foundation goals and priorities in Uganda
Support the Country Director with executing high value donor and partner visits, including assisting with logistics and providing a point of contact with the Uganda team.
Support the UK team to manage various donor portfolios so as to sustain a highly personalized donor care programme for all Child’s i Foundation donors including regular givers, mid and high net worth and corporate partners.

Serve as a point of contact with donors and build profiles for Uganda-based donors.
Assist the Country Director in building relationships and soliciting collaboration with our Ugandan donor contacts as appropriate.

Maintain and nurture existing donor relationships and secure new donors and partner relationships in line with Child’s I Foundation strategic plan
Provide presentations and information to current and potential new donors /partners.
Donor administration
Research opportunities for fundraising both locally and internationally by maintaining a grant application calendar in conjunction with the Country Director
In conjunction with the team administrator, ensure all data and touch points are recorded accurately on the database.
Support the Country Director to track and reach the pipeline goals.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The ideal applicant must hold at least a degree in development related studies or other social sciences. Master’s Degree in development or other social sciences preferred.
At least three years’ coordination or management experience in a corporate or an NGO environment, that includes significant experience of fundraising/ resource mobilization for development programmes.
Robust experience of NGO programme cycle management, and with experience of working within a complex and matrix organisation structure.
Significant knowledge of NGO systems, institutions and donors, and of procedures, accountability frameworks and best practices in programme management.
Substantial experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and securing and managing grants from major institutional donors.
Solid project management skills related to organisational development projects, cross-functional teams with a proven history of delivering results.
Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
An in-depth understanding of national and international development issues particularly in relation to Child Protection and other programmes serving vulnerable children and young people.
Previous experience of managing and developing a team and the ability to lead, motivate and develop others.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Commitment to and understanding of Child’s I Foundation’s aims, values and principles
Willingness and ability to travel extensively in and outside Uganda.
A proactive attitude to your work and the ability to be a self-starter
Strong relationship building and management skills and evidence of effective donor engagement skills and experience.
