About US ⇒
Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre UWEC evolved from an animal
orphanage set up by the Game Department in 1952 as a sanctuary to care for;
the sick, injured, orphaned wild animals, sometimes confiscated from illegal
wildlife trade. In 1994, under the Trustees Incorporation Act Cap 147, UWEC
was transformed into the Entebbe Zoo. Through the UWEC Act-2015, UWEC is now a
fully-fledged statutory body under the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and
Antiquities by the UWEC Act, 2015.
The UWEC Act, 2015 mandates UWEC to; undertake Conservation Education,
wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and breeding of endangered animal species
among others.
Job Summary ⇒ The Marketing and Business Development Officer will be
responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities that
support UWEC’s growth strategy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities ⇒
⇗ Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and business plan for UWEC
⇗ Develop a business growth strategy for UWEC.
⇗ Design, develop and implement income generating programs for UWEC.
⇗ Market UWEC programs and services to corporates, institutions, schools and
the general public
⇗ Develop fundable business proposals and participate in proposal writing for
fundraising activities.
⇗ Contribute to social media platforms and UWEC website to attract more
clients.
⇗ Lead the growth and development of existing and new businesses for UWEC.
⇗ Build and manage relationships with donors, cooperates, Ministries,
Departments and Agencies.
⇗ Plan and organize the special events at UWEC.
⇗ Manage and continuously review existing programs
⇗ Performing any other duties as may be required from time to time by the
UWEC management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, Marketing, Business Administration from a
reputable/recognized institution and Certificate in Project Planning and
Management will be an added advantage.
⇗ Three years of related experience, two years MUST be from a Tourism,
Conservation facility or service industry
