About US ⇒
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority UCAA is a corporate body responsible for
regulation of civil aviation in the country. It manages Entebbe International
Airport EIA and thirteen 13 other upcountry aerodromes. UCAA carries out
its work in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO
Standards and Recommended Practices SARPs.
Job Summary ⇒ The Trainee Fire – Fighter is an entry level position to the
acquisition of the skills in rescue and firefighting and for participation in
preparations for preparedness for firefighting activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities ⇒
Participating in Fire training
⇗ Participate in training responses of simulated aircraft crash fires, fire
alarms, airport fires and other related emergency situations in accordance
with existing Emergency Policy and Regulations
Responding to emergency
⇗ Ensures having the right tools and equipment when responding to those
emergency simulations.
Recording all reports
⇗ Records all reports accurately and disseminates the information promptly
for appropriate action.
Maintaining standby status
⇗ Maintains standby and ready status on hazardous work operations such as
aircraft refueling or de-fuelling with senior firefighters.
Ensures preparedness for firefighting
⇗ Ensures presence with adequate tools and supporting personnel during
refueling and de fuelling and other hazardous work operations on each
occasion.
⇗ Participates in routine physical fitness exercise is carried out daily to
ensure readiness to attend to duties.
⇗ Adheres to routine medical check-up program as per regulations.
Adhering to the standard operating procedures
⇗ Ensures strict adherence to the standard operating procedure during each
incident
Routine checks of equipment and appliances
⇗ Carries out routine checks of equipment and appliances and adheres to the
checklist and the approved schedule while checking equipment.
⇗ Carries out routine checks of communication system to ensure that it is in
recommended condition for use
Carrying out any other lawful assignment allocated by the immediate
supervisor
⇗ The jobholder is cooperative and readily responds to any adhoc tasks
assigned to him.
Servicing equipment
⇗ Ensures that all serviceable equipment are in place for use from time to
time
⇗ Maintains general cleanliness of equipment daily as per required
regulations
Encourages teamwork
⇗ Maintains a healthy team spirit between team members and other users to
facilitate effective execution of duties.
⇗ Ensures attainment of all targets through full participation in
firefighting and prevention process

Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ The idea candidate for the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority UCAA Trainee
Fire – Fighter job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized
institution OR Diploma with a post education work experience of 3 years in
Mechanical /Automobile/Electrical Engineering/Medical discipline from a
recognized Institution.
⇗ ‘A' level certificate and five credits at ‘O' level two of which should be
in English and Mathematics.
⇗ Must hold a certificate in the following - Firefighting or Airport
operations or Diving or Open water life saving
⇗ Driving Permit.
⇗ Must be physically fit.
⇗ Age Between 22 to 35 years.
