alongside disabled and vulnerable people to help meet their essential needs,
improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and
fundamental rights.
About Project
Through the AIMS project, HI, in collaboration with other education actors, is
aiming at increasing access to education, empower teachers and create
inclusive education environments. HI will also provide rehabilitation and
psycho social support to CwD and work with the communities to change negative
attitudes. HI with support from Education Cannot Wait ECW is implementing
Access to Inclusive and Meaningful Services AIMS in Education project with
an overall objective of ensuring that children, adolescents and youth from
refugee and host communities have access to sustained quality learning
opportunities in collaboration with other education actors. The overall
objective is in line with the Education Emergency Response Plan of the Ugandan
Ministry of Education MoE. HI provides technical support to education actors
and implements activities that support inclusion. The strategy is based on the
twin-track approach and seeks to strengthen the capacity of the education
system to include CwD and to provide individual support to maximize the
functional potential of CwD. Key partners in AIMS project are MoE, Save the
Children International SCI, Plan, Norwegian Refugee Council NRC, and Fin
Church Aid FCA operating in the in Arua District settlements of Rhino Camp,
Omugo and Imvepi, in Yumbe District settlement of Bidibidi and in Moyo
District Settlement of Palorinya. AIMS is a three year project i.e. Jan 2019
to Dec 2021.
Therefore, HI is currently seeking to recruit a qualified personnel to fill
these Positions. He/she will have to create and maintain an environment which
prevents sexual exploitation and abuse and promotes the implementation of the
code of conduct.
Job Summary Under the supervision of the HI AIMS Project Manager and in
coordination with the Consortium Management Unit and the technical support of
the HI Technical Unit, the Psychosocial Worker will be Responsible for overall
daily implementation of psychosocial support in schools, fixed points in the
refugee settlement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out Psychosocial Assessments for beneficiary needs.
Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for beneficiary and
caretakers needs independently or alongside the physiotherapy team.
Plan appropriate interventions addressing the identified beneficiary and
caretakers' psychosocial needs.
Offer secure and appropriate psychosocial support
Provide psychosocial services based on the informed consent of the
beneficiary and adapted to her/his needs, taking into account the limitations
of the emergency responses;
Detect any evolution of the cases and modify the action plan accordingly or
refer to a relevant colleague, superior or stakeholders;
Provide appropriate psychosocial sessions to children with disabilities,
including their caregivers, through family, groups and individual-based
approaches in coordination with relevant services based on the specific
situation of the person. The group approach is based on tree of life
methodology.
Carryout follow up psychosocial sessions for beneficiaries and caregivers
for continuous support.
Refer beneficiary to other services when needed
Identify needs for referrals to other relevant stakeholders and monitor
referrals conducted in relationship with, the program manager and the relevant
Technical Advisors MHPSS, Rehabilitation, P&O, and IE;
Refer persons to appropriate services through adequate referral system in
place.
Recognize emergency or situations that need immediate medical care or
protection measure and react in consequence making efforts to ensure that
beneficiary gets the appropriate services.
Organization of daily, weekly and monthly activities according to the
organization calendar of work
Develop weekly field activity reports
Implement field activities in collaboration with the Physiotherapist and
technical unit.
Respect for HI identity, rules, and policies
Participate in organization induction in coordination with the Human
Resources Manager and Program Manager
Know, understand, apply and respect HI code of conduct and ethics, HI
mandate and values, HI rules and operating procedure, HI policies child
protection policy, policy and mechanism for the prevention of and fight
against bribery, the protection of beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and
abuse policy and make sure they are known, understood, applied and respected
by its team
Know, understand, apply and respect HI security rules and make sure they
are known, understood and applied by her/his team
The employee is expected to perform any other tasks in addition to the
aforementioned upon request

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The applicant must hold a Degree in psychology, psycho-social work,
education, child development, community development or a similar field.
Theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in Mental health and
psychosocial support
At least 1 year of professional experience in an NGO at officer level

Competencies and Personal Qualities
Disability Inclusion and MHPSS Service Delivery
Knowledge of the MHPSS and Disability Sectors in Uganda
Strong comprehension of the psychosocial issues of people with disabilities
Proven project activity implementation skills in collaboration with
stakeholders
