Minimum Qualification

Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Zoology and Botany with an option in Entomology from a recognized University/Institution. A Post Graduate Diploma in the above fields will be an added advantage.
Working Experience

Applicants should have three 3 years relevant working experience in the field of Entomology at Officer level in Government or from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Entomologist, Sericulture
for performing the following duties-



‣ Planning, coordinating and undertaking national tsetse/tick surveillance,
control and eradication activities;

‣ Assessing levels of success and economic impact of tsetse and tick control
measures employed;

‣ Collecting data on tsetse and tick infestation, population density and
species composition on a regular basis and updating the National Animal
disease Vector data base;

‣ Providing technical back-up on control of tsetse flies, ticks and other
livestock biting flies;

‣ Carrying out awareness programs on tsetse flies and Trypanosomiasis, ticks
and tick-borne diseases at all levels;

‣ Preparing work plans, budgets and reports pertaining to tsetse fly and
tick control activities

‣ Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
